This was the LP's worth of unreleased tunes that Ritchie had cut before he died. Del Fi released them in the form of this LP in 1963. The liner notes on the back are a heartfelt tribute from Del Fi president Bob Keene.
From the All Music Guide:
Valens will forever be known primarily as one of the two rock stars (along with the Big Bopper) who perished with Buddy Holly when their private plane crashed in the midst of a Midwest tour in 1959. At the time, Valens had just established himself as one of the most promising young talents in rock & roll, just missing the top of the charts with his ballad "Donna," and recording a pioneering blend of rock and Latin music with its almost equally popular flipside, "La Bamba." More than almost any other rock star who died prematurely, it's difficult to assess his unrealized potential; he was only 17 at the time of his death, and had just barely begun to make records.
The tracks are:
1. Stay Beside Me
2. Cry, Cry, Cry
3. Big Baby Blues
4. Paddi-Wack Song
5. My Darling is Gone
6. Hurry Up
7. Little Girl
8. Now You're Gone
9. Fast Freight
10. Ritchie's Blues
11. Rockin' All Night
PLEASE NOTE: Unless otherwise noted, all of the LPs we are offering are used. Our grading system for each LP is strictly visual, as we don't have time to listen to each record from beginning to end. Unless otherwise stated, there is usually a small price sticker affixed somewhere on the back cover.
