King Zulu Records 0002 "Tootie Ma is a Big Fine Thing"/"Corinne Died on the Battlefield"
By Danny Barker and His Creole Cats (released 1955)

This great 78 is almost impossible to find in the first place - let alone autographed by Danny Barker himself!

Some of the earliest recordings of these Mardi Gras standards, these tunes have become staples in the celebrations of New Orleans' famous Mardi Gras Indian tribes.

Danny Barker career as a jazz guitarist is nothing short of extraordinary. He played with everyone from Cab Calloway and Louis Armstrong to Dizzy GIllespie and Charlie Parker. But these accomplishments aside, he has long been a hero in his hometown of New Orleans, spearheading the New Brass movement in the 1980s and going to great lengths to preserve the history of jazz in general.

A great piece from a great man.
